Train Mountain Railroad

Must-see Destination

7/17/2020

Train Mountain Railroad and Harvest Hosts teamed up to present the most unique and enjoyable stop-over experiences that we have ever had. (Harvest Hosts is an organization that offers locations like vineyards, farms, museums, and golf courses as RV stays.) We called Train Mountain in Chiloquin, Oregon, and spoke with Joyce who gladly accepted our request. We were greeted with enthusiasm and hospitality. Due to COVID, the museum was closed, but the grounds were open. After getting settled into our level and shaded spot we met some of Train Mountain members who openly shared their passion for 1/8th scale railroading. Train Mountain encompasses over 2200 acres with over 26 miles of track. The grounds include a museum, several train cars, and a fully-functioning railroad. The amount of detail and craftsmanship that goes into their scaled reproductions is impeccable. Steve and Lindsey, members at Train Mountain, took us on a spectacular two-hour ride around some of the grounds passing miniature towns and getting a real appreciation for their love of railroading. We will be forever grateful for their kindness and hospitality. Thumbs up for this 5-star attraction!

The convenience of this location provided us with the opportunity to visit nearby Crater Lake!

  1. Looks like a really cool stopover for you! There are some amazing things to see and do around the country and you seem to be finding things a lot of us never knew about. I missed Crater Lake while I lived out there and have it on the list to get to sometime. Enjoy Crater Lake and share pic or two from there if you get a chance. Safe travels, Dave
